We want to assure you of the measures we take to maintain a clean and safe environment so you can continue to receive needed dental care without fear or concern.
It might be surprising to learn that tooth loss is very common among adults. It’s often an unfortunate result of aging, but you don’t have to live with missing teeth.
Although many treatments can restore the function of your natural teeth, some of them don’t provide the same permanence and strength. All-on-4 implants are a revolutionary concept that can give you all of these benefits. Our All-on-4 dentist can help you decide if this treatment is right for you.
What Are All-on-4 Dental Implants?
Thousands of people have enjoyed the benefits of the All-on-4 concept since it emerged in 1998. This treatment is an excellent solution for restoring a full arch of missing teeth or badly decayed teeth in the upper and/or lower jaws. This advanced technique uses four specially constructed implants to provide a base for a prosthesis which makes your new teeth look, feel and function like real teeth. Best of all, All-on-4 implants don’t require bone grafting, thus reducing treatment time and cost. Call our office to learn more.
How Does the All-on-4 Concept Work?
By placing four implants in the correct location our surgeon will provide the restoring dentist with a suitable foundation upon which your new prosthesis will rest.
The process begins with a consultation with our oral surgeon and prosthodontist. After reviewing your case, including a 3D CBCT scan, the surgeon and prosthodontist will plan your treatment. On the day of surgery, you will need to be placed under sedation to make the experience more comfortable. Once the anesthesia has taken effect your diseased teeth will be removed, and the jawbone modified. Next, the surgeon will place the four specially designed dental implants. The prosthodontist will then to adapt the prosthesis to your jaw. The entire process takes only a few hours and you will walk out of our office with a new smile.
The dental implants used for your case will be made of titanium. The healing process takes a few months but in most cases you will be eating normally in only a couple of weeks. Modifications can be made to your prosthesis during this interim time to fine-tune your function and esthetics.
Before and After: What’s the All-on-4 Experience Like?
There are a few things you should keep in mind about All-on-4 before-and-after steps. Before the procedure, our skilled dentist will fully examine your teeth and address any concerns. The dentist’s assessment will include a three-dimensional CBCT scan so that we can precisely plan the best spots to place your implants.
After the procedure, it can take three to six months for the surgical sites to heal completely. You’ll need to follow our care instructions to prevent an infection in your gums or jaw during this recovery period. For the first few days, you’ll have to be careful not to chew or brush too hard, while keeping your mouth as clean as possible. The dentist will prescribe an antibacterial rinse to promote healing.
Once the titanium implant posts fuse to your bone, you end up with a comfortable, long-lasting solution to replacing missing teeth. In addition, the implants help maintain the structure of your jawbone and enhance your oral health. Talk to our dentist about the other benefits of this treatment.
How Much Do All-on-4 Dental Implants Cost?
There’s no specific price for the All-on-4 concept. Several factors affect the cost, such as the materials you choose. Although the dentures have a titanium framework, the surrounding materials vary in price. Acrylic is the standard tooth material, which costs less than porcelain; however, porcelain looks more realistic. The number of artificial teeth you need also will increase your All-on-4 cost.
How Are All-on-4 and Traditional Dental Implants Different?
The biggest difference between All-on-4 implants versus traditional implants is with the All-on-4 technique one needs fewer implants to support a suitable full-arch prosthesis, and thus the total cost is considerably less. With traditional implants, you may need up to 10 posts to create a full arch of teeth. Another major difference is that All-on-4 dental implants don’t require grafting, which eliminates the need for invasive surgery and prolonged recovery. Lastly, the All-on-4 technique provides you with a new smile in just one day, not 10 to 12 months.
How Are All-on-4 and Traditional Dentures Different?
When it comes to comparing All-on-4 implants versus dentures, stability is the biggest difference. Traditional dentures sit on your gums, are removable and require messy adhesives. All-on-4 dentures are stable because they’re attached to posts that fuse with your jaw.
